BarberPlanner – by Zelion
Privacy Policy – BarberPlanner
In short. BarberPlanner 1.0 does not require an account and does not use any Zelion server or cloud. It contains no advertising and no analytics or tracking tools. Clients, appointments and settings stay stored on the device where you use the app. The developer does not receive this data.
1. Developer identity and contact
BarberPlanner – by Zelion is developed by Francesco Vitolo (the “developer”).
Official contact for privacy and support: supporto@zelionapp.com.
2. Purpose and how the app works
BarberPlanner is an appointment book for barbers and salons. The professional (the “user”) uses it to:
- record appointments;
- manage the client list, the service catalog and the salon’s barbers;
- receive reminders on their own device.
In version 1.0:
- no registration is required and there are no user accounts;
- there is no Zelion cloud or server receiving app data;
- data is not synchronized between different devices;
- there is no advertising and no analytics, profiling or tracking tools;
- there are no in-app purchases and no online booking by end clients.
On first launch the app is empty: it contains no clients, appointments, services or sample data. Only a main barber with a generic name (“Barber”) is created, which the user can rename; it is needed to assign appointments.
3. Types of data entered by the user
The app only processes the information the user enters voluntarily:
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Salon client data | Name, phone number, client notes |
| Appointment data | Date, time, duration, service, price, status (scheduled, completed, no-show), assigned barber, notes |
| Salon data | Barber names, service catalog with duration and price |
| App preferences | Language, currency, light/dark theme, reminder settings, agenda view |
The app does not access the address book, location, camera, microphone, photos or other content on the device.
We recommend not entering unnecessary information in notes, in particular health data or other special categories of personal data.
4. Local storage
All the data listed in section 3 is stored only in the app’s internal storage on the user’s device. This storage space is reserved to the app by the operating system (iOS or Android). The developer has no access to this data and cannot view, change or recover it.
5. Data sent to external services
The BarberPlanner 1.0 code does not send client, appointment or salon data to servers of the developer or of third parties. Information leaves the app only in these cases:
- WhatsApp and phone calls, only when the user acts (see section 7);
- operating system backups, if enabled by the user (see section 8);
- support emails that the user chooses to send to supporto@zelionapp.com. In this case the developer receives the data contained in the message (email address, text, any attachments) and uses it only to answer the request.
Technical components included in the app. To handle notifications, the Android version includes standard Google software components (Firebase Cloud Messaging). These would be used to receive push notifications from a server. BarberPlanner does not use push notifications and the app neither configures nor activates these components: no push notification identifier is generated.
App Store and Google Play. The app is downloaded and updated through the Apple App Store or Google Play. These services process their users’ data under their own privacy policies, which are independent of BarberPlanner.
Diagnostic data provided by Apple and Google. If the user has agreed, in the device settings, to share analytics data with app developers, Apple and Google may provide the developer with crash reports and aggregated technical statistics (for example installations, system and device versions). During testing through TestFlight, Apple also sends the developer the crash reports and the feedback (possibly with screenshots) that testers choose to send. This data is used only to fix bugs and improve the app; it does not include the clients and appointments stored in the app, except for what is visible in screenshots sent voluntarily.
6. Notifications and permissions
BarberPlanner can show local reminders for scheduled appointments, with a selectable lead time (15, 30, 60 or 120 minutes). Reminders:
- are scheduled directly on the device, without going through any server;
- may contain the time, client name, service and barber: depending on the device settings, this information may appear on the lock screen;
- can be turned off in the app’s Notifications section or in the system settings.
Permissions used:
- Notifications (iOS and Android): requested when the user turns on reminders. If denied, the app works without reminders.
- Android – device startup, vibration and alarms: used to restore reminders after the phone restarts and to show them at the expected time.
- Android – Internet access and network state: declared by the app’s technical components; BarberPlanner does not use them to transmit the data you enter.
The app does not request access to contacts, location, camera, microphone or photos.
7. WhatsApp and phone calls
From a client or appointment screen, the user can start:
- a phone call: BarberPlanner opens the device’s Phone app with the client’s number; the call is handled by the system and the phone carrier;
- a WhatsApp chat: BarberPlanner opens WhatsApp with the client’s number and, if chosen, a pre-filled message (client name, appointment day and time). If WhatsApp is not installed, the wa.me web link is opened in the browser.
The message is never sent automatically: the user can edit or cancel it. Once WhatsApp, the browser or the Phone app is open, the data is handled by those services under their own policies (for WhatsApp, the WhatsApp/Meta policy).
8. Operating system backups
BarberPlanner has no backup, export or sync feature of its own. However, depending on the settings chosen by the user, the operating system may include the app’s data in its backups:
- iOS: iCloud backup or device backup to a computer;
- Android: Android backup to the Google account and device-to-device transfer tools.
These backups are managed by Apple or Google under their terms; the developer has no access to them. Restoring data from a backup depends on the operating system and is not guaranteed by the developer.
9. Retention and deletion of data
Data stays on the device until the user deletes it. In version 1.0 the user can:
- edit or delete individual appointments;
- edit a client’s name, phone number and notes;
- edit or delete services and barbers;
- delete all app data by uninstalling the app from the device.
The app has no single command to erase all data. A client appears in the list as long as appointments linked to them exist. A client’s note is deleted by clearing its text. If all of a client’s appointments are deleted without clearing the note first, the note remains stored on the device and reappears if a new appointment with the same name is created. Uninstalling does not delete copies that may exist in iCloud or Google backups, which must be managed from the system or account settings.
Since the developer neither receives nor keeps the data entered in the app, it cannot be recovered in case of loss, device change or uninstallation.
Support emails are kept by the developer for as long as needed to handle the request and any follow-up.
10. Security and limitations
Data is protected by the app isolation and protection mechanisms of the operating system. BarberPlanner does not add its own passcode or its own encryption. Anyone who can use the unlocked device can therefore see the app’s data.
We recommend that you:
- protect the device with a passcode, fingerprint or face recognition;
- keep the operating system up to date;
- consider what information to show in lock screen notifications.
Loss, theft or failure of the device may result in data loss if no operating system backup exists.
11. Role of the professional regarding their clients’ data
Salon client data is collected and managed by the professional who uses BarberPlanner, for their own purposes (organizing appointments and contacting clients). For this data the professional acts independently and is responsible, under applicable data protection law (including, where applicable, EU Regulation 2016/679 – GDPR), for:
- informing their clients;
- having an appropriate legal basis;
- processing only the data that is needed;
- handling their clients’ requests.
The developer provides the tool but does not receive, view or process the client data entered in the app.
In summary:
- data managed by the professional: clients, appointments, notes, services, barbers and preferences, stored on their device;
- data processed by the developer: the data contained in support requests sent by email and any diagnostic data and feedback made available by Apple or Google (see section 5);
- external services and backups: WhatsApp, Phone, browser, App Store/Google Play and iCloud/Google backups, each with its own privacy policy.
12. Rights of data subjects and contact
Salon clients. Requests to access, correct or delete data entered in BarberPlanner should be addressed to the professional who manages it. Only they can view and change it in the app.
App users. For data sent to the developer through support emails, you can exercise the rights provided by applicable law, including, where applicable, the GDPR: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability. Write to supporto@zelionapp.com.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).
13. Changes to this policy
This policy describes BarberPlanner version 1.0. If future versions introduce features that process data differently (for example accounts, synchronization or backup), this policy will be updated before those features are released. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this document.
